Police have arrested five people on suspicion of stealing more than 3,800 trading cards from a specialty shop in the western Japanese city of Osaka, most of which were Pokemon cards. Police say the suspects, including a 29-year-old man, broke into the shop by smashing a window and took the cards last July. The stolen cards are reportedly worth a total of over 100 million yen, or about 665,000 dollars. Some are apparently priced at up to around 40,000 dollars. Police have also arrested another man on suspicion of selling some of the cards. Rare trading cards can fetch thousands of dollars. The incident occurred as the number of thefts targeting valuable cards increases. Police say some of the suspects have denied the allegations.
