Senior diplomats from Japan, the United States and South Korea have condemned North Korea's latest ballistic missile launches. Namazu Hiroyuki, the director-general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, spoke by telephone on Monday with the US Deputy Special Representative for North Korea, Jung Pak, and South Korea's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, Kim Gunn. Pyongyang fired ballistic missiles on Sunday and Monday. The three officials agreed that North Korea's moves are a grave, imminent threat to the region and a clear, serious challenge to the international community. They confirmed that the three countries will continue to work closely to deal with such issues as boosting deterrence and response capability in the region, including trilateral security cooperation, and coordination at the UN Security Council.
