Japanese household goods retailer Hands says it has suffered a massive data breach. The firm's app was hacked, resulting in the leak of personal information for 121,886 customers. The company confirmed in early December that there were a large number of logins to its Hands Club App. Customers use it to register points earned from purchases and get coupons. Hands says the stolen information includes names, home and email addresses, phone numbers as well as passwords. It has not confirmed any misuse of the data. The company launched an investigation with a security firm which found that the unauthorized access mainly came from overseas servers. The retailer says it has beefed up security measures and is working with the police.
