Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has asked his Israeli counterpart to step up negotiations on the release of Thai hostages held by Hamas. Srettha spoke to the media after holding a phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. He said he told Netanyahu that Thailand welcomes any help and conditions in exchange for the safe and quick release of hostages. He said Netanyahu promised his full support to secure the release of all Thais. Thailand also sent its foreign minister to the Middle East in an effort to get the hostages released. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara met his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday in Cairo. Egypt borders the Gaza Strip. Parnpree asked for Egypt's help in bringing the hostages through the Rafah border crossing. On Tuesday, he met the Qatari and Iranian foreign ministers and asked for their full support. The Thai foreign ministry says 22 of its nationals were abducted by Hamas when the group carried out its surprise attack in Israel on October 7. 32 other people from Thailand were reportedly killed.
