Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko and her Jordanian counterpart have agreed to cooperate for the safety of civilians in the Gaza Strip and for achieving a halt in hostilities for humanitarian purposes. Following her visits to Israel and the West Bank, Kamikawa visited neighboring Jordan and met with Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. At the start of the meeting, Kamikawa said Japan has been providing various support for peace and stability in the Middle East, and is closely watching the escalating tensions in Gaza with great concern. The two foreign ministers agreed to cooperate for the safety of civilians, improving humanitarian conditions and achieving a temporary halt in hostilities for humanitarian purposes. They also agreed to continue their efforts toward a de-escalation as early as possible. Kamikawa also expressed deep gratitude for Jordan's cooperation in the support for transporting Japanese nationals and other people from Israel, referring to Japan's Self-Defense Force aircraft stationed in Jordan. In response, Safadi stated that they are willing to spare no efforts in assisting to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals.
