Two Japanese movies have won big accolades at this year&#039;s Academy Awards in Los Angeles. They include &quot;Godzilla Minus One,&quot; the first Japanese or Asian-made film to win the Oscar for best Visual Effects.
                
The Hollywood ceremony on Sunday was a chance to honor the best and brightest in cinema.
                
They include the team behind the latest Godzilla movie, the 30th Japanese-made live-action film to feature the big guy. This time, Godzilla unleashes chaos in post-war Japan. Director Yamazaki Takashi wrote the script and created the visual effects.
                
Yamazaki said: &quot;This award is a proof that everyone has a chance. We did it! Thank you, thank you so much! &quot;
                
And, a major figure in the global animation world, Miyazaki Hayao, has won the Oscar for best Animated Feature Film for &quot;The Boy and the Heron.&quot;
                
The story is about a boy who wanders into a mysterious world after losing his mother in World War Two. The 83-year old Miyazaki directed and also wrote the original story and screenplay. It took him seven years to make the film.
                
It is also Miyazaki&#039;s second movie to win in this category, after &quot;Spirited Away&quot; took home the award in 2003.
                
Staff at Miyazaki&#039;s Tokyo-based production company, Studio Ghibli, erupted in applause.
                
Its producer, Suzuki Toshio, said, &quot;I told Miyazaki congratulations by phone. He also congratulated me on my celebration.&quot;
                
Movie fans in Tokyo are also celebrating Japan&#039;s Oscar success.
                
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan&#039;s World War Two epic &quot;Oppenheimer&quot; was Oscar night&#039;s biggest winner.
                
The film about the scientist who led the development of the first atomic bomb swept seven categories, including Best Picture and Best Director.
