Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio says he aims to submit and pass a supplementary budget bill in an extraordinary Diet session expected later this month. He said he is focusing on economic measures and other pressing issues. Kishida made the comment in an interview with NHK on Tuesday, one day before marking two years in office. Kishida said events that may occur once in several decades have taken place during his term so far. These include historical turning points in and out of Japan. He said that over the two years, he dealt with issues that could not be put off, made decisions and took action. Asked about possible tax cuts in an economic stimulus package expected at the end of this month, Kishida said wage hikes and tax reductions on capital investments are being discussed. He said he has also asked the ruling parties to study measures to help boost demand. Kishida said the planned supplementary budget will finance the stimulus package. The extraordinary Diet session is expected to be convened on October 20. He aims to enact the bill during the session. He said he is not thinking about dissolving the Lower House for a general election at this time.
