Ukrainian officials say they are uncovering more details of life under Russian occupation in the liberated areas of the southern Kherson region.
In a video address on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, "Investigators have already documented more than 400 Russian war crimes, and the bodies of both civilians and military personnel are being found" in the Kherson region.
Zelenskyy added, "We will find and bring to justice every murderer. Without a doubt."
He also said, "Stabilization and restoration of law and order in 226 settlements will be ensured in the Kherson region. This is more than 100,000 local residents as of this time."
On Friday, Russia's defense ministry announced the completion of the retreat from the capital city of the Kherson region and other areas to the eastern bank of the Dnipro River.
Zelenskyy said on Saturday that his troops had won back control of more than 60 settlements in the Kherson region.
Local media quoted a senior Ukrainian official as saying that several sites apparently used for torture have been found in the region.
Ukrainian troops are urging any remaining Russian soldiers in Kherson city to surrender. They say some Russian soldiers may have blended in with Ukrainian civilians.
