Electric-vehicle giant Tesla is recalling about 46,000 Cybertrucks, or almost all those sold in the United States, due to an exterior panel that can detach while driving. It's the latest blow to the company owned by Elon Musk. The firm has suffered a significant drop in its share price amid a consumer boycott over his actions on behalf of the Trump administration. Tesla filed the recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for Cybertrucks built from November 2023 through last month. The company says a stainless-steel exterior trim panel can detach from the vehicle, potentially causing an accident. Tesla dealerships have been targeted in protests against drastic layoffs of federal workers by the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency. Tesla vehicles have been destroyed at many locations. The US Justice Department on Thursday announced charges against three people for setting fire to Tesla vehicles and charging stations in Oregon and other states.
