Japan reports 38,581 new COVID cases on Saturday NHK

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 38,581 new cases of the coronavirus and 256 deaths nationwide on Saturday.

In Tokyo, the number of new infections was 2,992, down 1,523 from a week ago. That's the 18th straight day of week-on-week decline.

The ministry also confirmed 17 deaths from the virus in the capital, as same as Friday.
