China says it is going to impose additional tariffs on some agricultural and other imports from Canada, in response to Canada's additional tariffs on Chinese products introduced last October. China's finance ministry announced on Saturday that the tariffs will go into effect from March 20 on some imported goods from Canada. It said China will add 100 percent tariffs on rapeseed oil, peas, and other products and 25 percent tariffs on marine products and pork. The ministry cited Canada's additional tariffs introduced in October on electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products imported from China. It said the Canadian measures are in serious violation of World Trade Organization rules, are typical protectionist practices and seriously undermine China's legitimate rights and interests. China has also announced a second round of tariff hikes on some US agricultural and other products from Monday in response to additional tariffs imposed by the administration of President Donald Trump. China earlier raised tariffs on US products in February.
