Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa will leave Japan to attend a conference in Britain covering how to help Ukraine rebuild after Russia's invasion. Hayashi departs on Tuesday for a 5-day tour that will take him to London and Paris. Hayashi will attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London. He wants to highlight Japan's plan to help Ukraine through a range of public and private partnership projects, including rebuilding infrastructure and removing landmines. Japan's government is also ready to encourage more Japanese businesses to invest in Ukraine. Arrangements are underway for Hayashi to meet with his Group of Seven counterparts on the sidelines of the conference to discuss China. This follows a visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to China. Hayashi will then attend a conference in France to discuss how to financially support developing countries. French President Emmanuel Macron and Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be among the attendees. Participants will explore ways to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Hayashi is expected to explain Japan's stance on climate change and energy issues. He also wants to use the occasion to forge better ties with the emerging and developing nations known as the Global South.
