Baby saved from womb of woman killed in Gaza NHK

The Associated Press and other media say a baby girl was delivered from the womb of a Palestinian woman killed during Israeli air strikes in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The reports say the strikes from Saturday through Sunday killed 22 people, including 18 children and the 30-week pregnant woman.

The woman was reportedly dead when she was carried to a hospital. Medical workers performed an emergency cesarean section on her, and saved the baby.

The reports say the baby was in stable condition, but weighed only 1.4 kilograms. Footage shows medical workers wrapping the baby in cloth while administering oxygen.

The strikes killed the girl's father and 3-year-old sister, along with the mother. A doctor said it was a tragedy that she was born an orphan.
