Weather officials in Japan are warning a rain storm will hit a wide area of the nation on Tuesday. Japan's Meteorological Agency says it is already raining in the southwestern main island of Kyushu and the Kanto-Koshin region surrounding Tokyo. The weather system will move east on Tuesday, making the atmospheric condition very unstable in western Japan and the Pacific coast of the country's east. The agency says localized intensive thunder showers are possible in those regions. Northern Kyushu and the Izu islands are expected to see up to 150 millimeters of rain over 24 hours through Tuesday evening. Up to 120 millimeters is forecast in the southern Kyushu, Shikoku, and Kinki regions. The agency is particularly warning people in Kyushu as Sunday's localized heavy rain has already loosened the ground there. The low pressure will also bring high winds mainly to the eastern Japan coast. The sea will be especially choppy around the Izu islands. The agency says caution is advised against landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, swelling rivers, lightning, tornados and gusty winds.
