Ukraine&#039;s prime minister has said that he is confident his country will secure funds needed for recovery programs in preparation for winter. He added that many businesses appear to be keen to invest in projects.
                
Denys Shmyhal spoke on Thursday, the final day of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London. Its participants, including government delegates from Japan and 60 other countries, discussed how to help Ukraine rebuild from extensive damage done by Russia&#039;s invasion.
                
Shmyhal said he is sure that Ukraine will collect 6.5 billion dollars needed for its recovery programs after the two-day conference. The country is aiming to rebuild homes, energy facilities and other infrastructure ahead of winter.
                
The co-chairs of the conference, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, issued a statement saying that nearly 500 global businesses from 42 countries pledged to support Ukraine&#039;s recovery and reconstruction.
                
The statement said the conference launched a war risk insurance framework in response to demand from the corporate community. The insurance is meant to support businesses that help rebuild Ukraine.
                
It also said G7 and European partners continue to explore all lawful routes to ensure that sanctioned Russian assets are made available to support Ukraine&#039;s reconstruction, in line with international law.
                
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said Ukraine cannot rebuild itself alone, but conference delegates showed Ukraine that they &quot;stand with&quot; the country.
                
The conference brought together government representatives as well as officials from international organizations, private-sector companies and other entities.
                
The agenda for the final day included how to ensure Ukraine&#039;s transparency and how to deal with landmines, which are expected to hinder reconstruction efforts.
                
The World Bank estimated in a joint assessment in March that the cost of recovery and reconstruction in Ukraine will total 411 billion dollars.
