'Particularly dangerous situation' warning for parts of LA, elsewhere NHK

US officials are urging people in the Los Angeles area to exercise the utmost caution as intense winds are feared likely to whip up the continuing wildfires on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says a "particularly dangerous situation" warning is in place for parts of Los Angeles and nearby areas for 12 hours from 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

Four major blazes are still raging. The coastal Palisades Fire has damaged or destroyed more than 5,000 buildings, while the Eaton Fire in an inland residential area has damaged over 7,000.

Local officials say the disaster has left at least 25 people dead while 88,000 others remain under evacuation orders.

Meanwhile, authorities set up two disaster recovery centers to help people affected by the fires put their lives back together. The facilities opened on Tuesday, one week since the fires started.

The centers assist people with damaged or destroyed homes in applying for relief measures. They also provide support to those who have lost social security papers.
