Yale University researchers say at least 6,000 Ukrainian children have been subjected to "re-education efforts" in Russia and occupied Crimea. The team investigating Russian war crimes with support from the US State Department published a report on the matter Tuesday. Yale School of Public Health's Humanitarian Research Lab members were included. The report says the Ukrainian children aged four months to 17 years have been in a network of at least 43 recreation camps and adoption or foster care facilities since February 2022. The research shows most of the camps engaged in re-education. Some provided military training and prevented children from returning to their parents. Some parents said they were unable to get information about their child's status or whereabouts. The report says Russia's government is involved in the operation. It warns that separating children from their parents indefinitely can violate the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
