Authorities in the United States have banned the sale of two new models of Apple Watch in the country by reason of patent infringements.
                
The sales ban on Apple&#039;s &quot;Series 9&quot; and &quot;Ultra 2&quot; smartwatches came into force on Tuesday.
                
The US tech giant rolled out the two models in September. Their functional features include the ability to measure blood oxygen levels.
                
The US International Trade Commission, which deals with cases involving intellectual properties, concluded in October that the feature infringes on patents owned by a US medical equipment firm.
                
On Tuesday, the Office of the US Trade Representative decided not to overturn the ITC&#039;s ruling, allowing the ban to take effect.
                
Apple has filed an appeal to the ban.
                
The company says it has already suspended the sales of the two models.
                
It is a rare case that a sales ban has been imposed on new products in the US. Observers say there may be negative impacts on Apple&#039;s performance if the dispute is prolonged.
