NHK poll: Ishiba Cabinet's approval rate at 33 percent, down 2 percentage points NHK

The latest NHK opinion poll shows the approval rate for Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru's Cabinet is 33 percent. That's down 2 percentage points from April. The disapproval rate is 48 percent, up 3 percentage points.



NHK conducted the telephone survey over three days from Friday. Over 1,200 people responded.



The respondents were also asked whether they are concerned about any impact from US tariff measures on the Japanese economy. Of them, 43 percent said they are much concerned, while 36 percent said they are somewhat concerned. A total of 11 percent said they are not that concerned, with 5 percent saying they are not concerned at all.



The Japanese government is urging the United States to review its tariffs. Asked about their expectations regarding Tokyo's negotiations with Washington, 11 percent of the respondents said they have high expectations, while 36 percent said they have some expectation. A total of 32 percent said they do not expect much, with 15 percent saying they have no expectations at all.
