Exhibitors of private-sector pavilions at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka have presented the ideas behind their upcoming displays.
Seven of the 13 firms and organizations set to take part in the Expo outlined their concepts in Tokyo on Wednesday. The pavilions will feature the latest technologies developed to address global challenges.
NTT Group says the exhibitors will utilize their high-speed, high-capacity, next-generation communication network called IOWN.
Kudo Akiko, Senior Vice President of NTT, says this network will make society more convenient, like being able to charge smartphones just once a year.
Kudo says her company also wants to give visitors the experience of feeling as if people or landscapes far away are in closer range.
Sumitomo Group says its pavilion will feature a silhouette of a mountain to reflect its past copper mining operations.
It says the pavilion will use wood from forests it owns in Japan and other trees the firm planted when Osaka hosted the Expo in 1970.
