The crash of an ambulance in Tokyo last month has brought to light the tough work conditions faced by emergency service workers during the pandemic. Three paramedics were injured late last month when their ambulance overturned after crashing into a road's center divider in Akishima City. Police say footage from an on-board camera showed the driver and two other members dozing off. Ambulance dispatching centers have been extremely busy amid a surge in coronavirus cases. The Tokyo Fire Department said emergency services were running at more than 95 percent of capacity on the day of the accident. Officials said the paramedics had worked for roughly 17 straight hours before the crash.
