The Lebanese Shia Muslim group Hezbollah has fired its first-ever ballistic missile toward the suburbs of Tel Aviv in central Israel. Israel says its forces intercepted it.
Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it launched one ballistic missile against the headquarters of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, Israel's largest commercial city.
The group said it conducted the attack, as the Mossad is involved in the assassination of its leaders and setting off explosions using pagers and wireless devices.
The Israeli military announced that they intercepted the Hezbollah missile by the air defense system and struck a military facility in southern Lebanon from which the missile was launched.
Recently, Hezbollah has fired a series of rocket barrages against northern Israel.
