The Lebanese Shia Muslim group Hezbollah has fired its first-ever ballistic missile toward the suburbs of Tel Aviv in central Israel. Israel says its forces intercepted it.
                
Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it launched one ballistic missile against the headquarters of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, Israel&#039;s largest commercial city.
                
The group said it conducted the attack, as the Mossad is involved in the assassination of its leaders and setting off explosions using pagers and wireless devices.
                
The Israeli military announced that they intercepted the Hezbollah missile by the air defense system and struck a military facility in southern Lebanon from which the missile was launched.
                
Recently, Hezbollah has fired a series of rocket barrages against northern Israel.
                
Israeli media outlets report that Hezbollah carried out its first-ever attack on central Israel in the latest round of fighting, by using a ballistic missile, which has a longer firing range. The latest missile attack has raised concerns about further escalation in tensions.
                
The Israeli military has repeatedly carried out air strikes on Hezbollah&#039;s weapon depots and other targets in southern Lebanon.
                
The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, said on Tuesday that a female agency staffer and her child were killed in an Israeli missile attack in eastern Lebanon. The agency is appealing to both Israel and Hezbollah to protect civilians and aid workers.
                
Lebanon&#039;s health ministry said the air bombardments by Israeli forces had killed on aggregate 558 people, including 50 children and 94 women, in Lebanon as of Tuesday.
