The US Postal Service has announced that it will temporarily suspend acceptance of parcels coming from China and Hong Kong. The mail agency made the announcement on Tuesday. It did not say for how long the measure will be in place. US media outlets reported that the move may block or delay parcels from retailers in China. A provision in US trade law permits imports worth less than 800 dollars to enter the country without paying any customs duties. Taking advantage of this duty-free treatment, Chinese mail order companies, such as Temu and Shein, have been expanding their market shares in the US. But President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Saturday to impose an additional tariff of 10 percent on all imports from China and revoke the privilege.
