Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on US President Donald Trump to visit Ukraine to witness the reality of the devastation caused by Russian attacks. The calls come as Russian missile strikes in the heart of the northeastern city of Sumy on Sunday damaged houses and other structures. Authorities announced that the attack left 34 dead, including two children. One hundred-nineteen people were injured. Reuters news agency reported the attack was the deadliest strike on Ukraine this year. City authorities announced three days of mourning for the victims starting Monday. Zelenskyy appeared on CBS's "60 Minutes" program that aired on Sunday. He reiterated his calls to Trump, urging him to visit Ukraine. He said, "Please, before any kind of decisions, any kind of forms of negotiations, come to see people, civilians, warriors, hospitals churches, children destroyed or dead." Trump on Sunday called the strike a "mistake". He told reporters, "I think it was terrible and I was told they made a mistake, but I think it's a horrible thing." He also said, "I think the whole war's a horrible thing." But Trump has repeatedly made comments expressing his understanding of Moscow. Zelenskyy appears to be making these calls so that negotiations for a ceasefire will not be slanted in Russia's favor.
