The Japanese government has provided two new medical vehicles to support displaced people from Myanmar staying in neighboring Thailand.
                
A handover ceremony of the cars was held Wednesday in a border town.
                
They then went around the area where Myanmar people live and provided medical checks.
                
70,000 people who fled Myanmar after the coup three years ago are said to be in western Thailand.
                
A public hospital there has been providing free medical services to them by mobile medical vehicles. But the cars have become old, so the Japanese government has provided two new ones under the ODA framework.
                
Weeraya Sintorn, a staff member at Mae Sot General Hospital, said that these new vehicles will help provide medical services for Myanmar people.
                
Takekawa Ryoichi, a medical attache of the Japanese Embassy in Thailand, said, &quot;Japan will continue to provide detailed support in cooperation with NGOs and international organizations.&quot;
                
In Myanmar, the Japanese government has been unable to provide new direct assistance through ODA, as the military is in charge of projects.
