Two boys killed by Israeli forces in West Bank, Palestinian officials say NHK

Palestinian officials say four people, including two boys aged 8 and 15, have been killed in an Israeli military operation in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

The Israeli forces carried out raids on a refugee camp and other locations in Jenin from Tuesday night to Wednesday.

The Israeli military says its operation killed two senior commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Palestinian officials say the two Palestinian boys were shot dead by Israeli forces.

Israeli media outlet Haaretz quotes an army source as saying that the two boys had been throwing explosives at the troops.

Israel released a total of 180 Palestinian prisoners in the West Bank during the first 5 days of the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that began last Friday.

But Qatar-based satellite TV station Al Jazeera says at least 203 people have been detained in the West Bank and East Jerusalem during the same period.
