China says it will hold three days of military exercises around Taiwan starting on Saturday. The People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theater Command made the announcement on Saturday. The move is seen as a response to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's recent meeting with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The announcement says patrols and drills will be conducted in waters and airspace around Taiwan as planned, but whether they have already begun or not is yet to be known.
