Former US President Donald Trump says he will not end his run for the White House even if convicted and sentenced in a criminal case. He is the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and was charged with additional federal crimes on Thursday. Trump was indicted last month for illegally holding onto classified documents containing national defense information at his Mar-a-Lago estate. He is set to go to trial in May. Federal prosecutors announced three new charges in connection with the case. They accused Trump and his aides of asking a staffer to delete security camera footage at his residence to obstruct the investigation. Trump spoke in an interview with conservative radio host John Fredricks on Friday and denied any wrongdoing. He reportedly said that he believed he wasn't required to hand over the tapes but did so anyway. Trump has been facing several investigations since leaving office, and another indictment looms. On Thursday, his lawyers met with prosecutors ahead of a potential case over his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Trump says his lawyers warned that an indictment would only "further destroy our country."
