US space agency NASA says it is targeting August 21 for the launch of the next crewed mission to the International Space Station. The crew will include Japanese astronaut Furukawa Satoshi. NASA said on Tuesday the flight was pushed back from August 17 to allow additional time for launch site processing. NASA said that the civilian spacecraft Crew Dragon will lift off from the Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida. Furukawa will board the spacecraft with three crew members from the US, Denmark and Russia. They expressed their excitement about the upcoming mission at a news conference last month in the United States where they are training together. Furukawa will stay on ISS for about six months. The 59-year-old Yokohama native made his first flight to the ISS in 2011 on board the Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
