The Ukrainian government is working to address serious power shortages as Russian missiles continue to target the country&#039;s energy facilities and other infrastructure.

The governor of the eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk said in a social media post on Saturday that more than 30 Russian artillery shells had damaged gas pipelines and electric power lines.

He said that he asked a minister in charge to establish a coordination headquarters to facilitate the supply and distribution of generators.
                
He said the government is working to ensure every family has light, heat, water and communications.
                
The prime minister stressed ongoing efforts to restore power supplies as a top priority.
                
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday.
                
He justified the Russian attacks by saying such measures have become an unavoidable and inevitable response to Kyiv&#039;s provocative attacks against Russia&#039;s civilian infrastructure.
