Israel halted the flow of food and medicine on March 2. Officials said the measure is aimed at pressuring the Islamic group Hamas.

On Friday, the Times of Israel quoted sources as saying the government plans to "radically alter" the way relief is distributed in the coming weeks. The move is aimed at preventing any aid going to Hamas fighters.

Humanitarian workers are growing more concerned about the welfare of civilians.

Michael Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization's emergencies program, said on Thursday that the situation is "breaking the bodies and the minds" of the children, who "should not pay the price."

Ryan expressed anger, saying, "this should not be happening... It's an abomination."

Houthi rebels in Yemen said on Friday that they had carried out a missile launch against Israel. The group has expressed solidarity with Hamas.

Israeli military officials say they thwarted the attack. Media reports say fragments from a downed missile penetrated the roof of a nursery, but there were no casualties.
