A: Hey! Did you hear about that Setsubun event?

B: No way! What was it like?

A: It was at Mt. Fuji Children’s World! Lots of people went.

B: Really? What did they do?

A: They had a bean-throwing ceremony! It's for Setsubun, you know, like, the last day of winter.

B: Oh, right! I remember that! Did they throw *mamemaki*?

A: Yep! They threw beans at pretend demons!  Kids shouted "Out with demons!"

B: Haha! That’s so cute! Were there a lot of kids?

A: Yeah! About 200 people!  Lots of children and their parents.

B: Awesome! And they had snow?

A: Totally! They threw the beans down a snowy slope. So fun!

B: Cool! Did everyone throw beans?

A: Well, people born in the year of the horse did a special thing. They said “In with good fortune!”

B: The year of the horse! That's this year, right?

A: Exactly! A little boy said he had a great time. He wants to study hard this year too.

B: That’s nice! What did the park people say?

A: They wanted everyone to have fun *and* get rid of bad luck!

B:  Sounds like a great way to celebrate Setsubun!
