China unveils the name of its lunar rover for the country's manned moon mission NHK

China unveiled on Wednesday the name of its manned moon rover for the country's lunar exploration program.

The China Manned Space Agency said the rover has been named "Tansuo," meaning "Exploration."
The agency says it is in a prototype development phase and that the program is well underway.

China is aiming to land astronauts on the moon by 2030, rivaling the US-led Artemis international lunar exploration project.

The state-run China Central Television aired a computer graphics video of its own program.

It shows the folded rover being lowered from the landing craft, and a two-seat open vehicle exploring the moon's surface.

US President Donald Trump vowed during his first term that the Artemis mission would not fall behind China, suggesting the two powers' space race will intensify.
