B: Seriously? What are they accused of?

A: The article didn’t say exactly. But they could get really long prison sentences. They passed a new law in July too.

B: Wow. So, it’s all controlled by the military now?

A: Pretty much. They're using the law to silence anyone who criticizes the election.

B: That’s terrible! Are people actually voting?

A: They’re holding it in three stages, until January. But a lot of popular parties aren’t allowed to participate. And some areas can't even vote because of fighting.

B: That doesn't sound like a fair election at all.
