A Canadian search plane looking for a missing submersible has detected sound from deep in the Atlantic. The discovery comes as rescuers race against time to find the submersible, after it went missing on a tour to see the Titanic at the ocean bottom.
                
US and Canadian officials are using aircraft and a remotely-operated underwater craft to find the submersible. Five people were on board when it lost contact with the surface less than 2 hours after starting its dive on Sunday.
                
The US Coast Guard said an underwater craft went to investigate the noise but has not found anything yet.
It says the search will continue.
                
The sound was reportedly a &quot;banging noise&quot; heard at 30-minute intervals in the search area, according to internal US documents acquired by CNN.
                
The US coast guard says the search is a technically and geologically complex operation. The wreckage of the Titanic is about 4,000 meters below the surface on the ocean floor.
