Honda Motor's American unit is recalling about 2.6 million cars due to defective fuel pumps. The firm says parts inside the pumps may deform while a vehicle is in motion. That could cause the engine to stop and cause an accident. Models involved were made between 2017 and 2020, including the Accord, Civic and some of Honda's luxury Acura brand. Since 2020, a total of over 3.8 million vehicles produced by eight automakers have been recalled in Japan over the same defective fuel pumps. They are made by Japanese auto parts maker Denso. Honda says it has not received any reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue in the US. In Japan, a fatal accident linked to a vehicle using the fuel pump occurred in July.
