Japan's Furukawa Satoshi and three other astronauts are on their way back to Earth after six months at the International Space Station.
A spacecraft carrying the four astronauts undocked from the ISS at around 12:20 a.m. Japan time on Tuesday. It is scheduled to splash down off the coast of Florida at about 7:00 p.m.
This was Furukawa's second ISS mission. He conducted a number of experiments, including crystallizing high-quality protein for use in the development of new medicines, as well as experiments to prepare for future missions to the moon and Mars.
