US entrepreneur Elon Musk has stirred controversy by announcing a plan to give one million dollars a day to a voter who signs his petition. Musk is carrying out the campaign through a group he set up to support Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the November 5 election. Musk aims to collect signatures for the petition to protect freedom of speech and the right to bear arms guaranteed by the Constitution. He said he will give one million dollars to a person each day until the election day. A recipient will be chosen by lottery among registered voters who are in the battleground states and who sign the petition. At a rally in the highly contested state of Pennsylvania on Sunday, Musk handed a large card mimicking a one-million-dollar check to a woman. Multiple media outlets say giving remuneration in return for voting or voter registration violates federal law. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said it's "deeply concerning" and "something that law enforcement could take a look at."
