South Korea&#039;s presidential office has stressed the significance of a summit on Monday between the country&#039;s leader and US President Donald Trump, saying the meeting will lead to the strengthening of bilateral relations with Japan and trilateral cooperation with Japan and the US.

He said Trump highly praised Lee&#039;s decision to visit Japan before the US as a way to help achieve a major improvement in South Korea-Japan relations and strengthen cooperation among South Korea, Japan and the US.

Wi also said Trump indicated his intention to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held this autumn in South Korea.
