Japan's Princess Aiko, the daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, visited on Tuesday the Ise Shrine in central Japan's Mie Prefecture to report her graduation from a university.

This is Princess Aiko's first solo regional trip. She first visited the Outer Shrine before heading to the Inner Shrine, which is dedicated to the Sun Goddess, the ancestor of the Imperial family according to legend.

The last time she visited the Ise Shrine was 10 years ago when she accompanied her parents.

Princess Aiko will travel to Nara Prefecture on Wednesday and pay a visit to the mausoleum of Emperor Jinmu, the legendary first emperor of Japan.

The Princess graduated from Gakushuin University this month and will start working at the Japanese Red Cross Society in April.
