Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his frustration with Western allies which have delayed the promised training of Ukrainian pilots. Zelenskyy met with Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Saturday, the day that Spain assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union. At a joint news conference, Zelenskyy said that Russia is posing serious threat, claiming that it is apparently ready to provoke a localized explosion at the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine's request for its Western allies to supply F-16 fighter aircraft. He said that his country had agreed with the allies on the training of Ukrainian pilots, but that no schedule had yet been set. Zelenskyy said he doesn't understand why some of the partners are taking so much time. Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi also expressed frustration with Kyiv's Western supporters when he was asked about the slower-than-expected start of Ukrainian counteroffensives in an interview with The Washington Post published on Friday. Zaluzhnyi referred to battlefield losses saying, "This is not a show. Every day, every meter is given by blood." He stressed that weapons and ammunition supplies from Western nations are not arriving in Ukraine quickly enough. Britain's defense ministry said in its intelligence update on Saturday that since around June 23, Ukrainian forces have almost certainly restarted deploying personnel to the east bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, near a ruined bridge. But the Russian defense ministry argued that its troops have repelled Ukrainian forces in the region.
