Iran's Revolutionary Guards: Safeguarding security is a red line NHK

As nationwide demonstrations over economic hardships continued in Iran on Saturday, the country's elite force is warning that safeguarding security is a red line that cannot be breached.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement that said it considers the protection of the achievements of the Islamic Revolution, and preserving the security of the society, as its red line.
Since late December, protesters have taken to the streets across Iran demanding the government curb soaring prices caused partly by Western sanctions.
A human rights group based in the United States said that at least 65 people have been killed so far in clashes between demonstrators and police.
The group added that due to communication shutdowns, it has not been possible to definitively establish an exact death toll.
Reza Pahlavi, a son of Iran's last Shah who was overthrown during the Islamic Revolution, lives in exile in the United States. He has posted a message on social media, urging Iranians to turn out for protests on Saturday and Sunday.
In the capital Tehran on Saturday, protesters were seen chanting, "Death to the dictator."
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote on social media, "the United States supports the brave people of Iran."
US President Donald Trump reiterated a warning to Iranian authorities on Friday, that said the US will get involved if they start killing people.
