Major League Baseball star Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Dodgers has smashed his league-leading 23rd homerun of the season in a 7-2 victory over his former team. It was the Japanese player's third homer in as many games.

Ohtani batted first in the lineup as designated hitter in the clash against the Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium on Saturday. He spent six seasons with the Angels before joining the Dodgers in the past offseason.

Ohtani had his second at-bat in the third inning right after his team got the game's first run. He connected with a breaking pitch and drove the ball over the center-right wall for a two-run homer.

The blast traveled 139.9 meters with an exit velocity of 185.8 kilometers per hour.

Ohtani went one-for-four in the game, chalking up two RBIs and one walk. He also extended his hitting streak to seven games.

The slugger now has 23 homeruns and the batting average of .321 under his belt, both at the top of the stats in the National League.
