US President-elect Donald Trump has sued a local newspaper, pollster and others over a pre-presidential election survey that underestimated his support.
Trump filed a lawsuit for damages on Monday against the Des Moines Register, a newspaper in the Midwestern state of Iowa, a polling firm, and others.
The newspaper reported on November 2, three days before the election, that a poll conducted in late October showed Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris leading Trump by three percentage points in Iowa.
In the actual election, Trump won the state by 13 points.
The Trump side claimed that the poll was contrary to reality and lacked credibility, and the report interfered in the election in favor of Harris.
A spokesperson for the Des Moines Register told reporters that the newspaper stands by its reporting and described the lawsuit as "without merit."
At a news conference on Monday, Trump criticized an election-related report by another media outlet as interference.
