Japan's Princess Kako tests positive for coronavirus NHK

Japan's Imperial Household Agency says Princess Kako has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The agency says the younger daughter of Crown Prince and Princess Akishino felt discomfort in her throat on Saturday night and developed a fever on Sunday morning.

An antigen test confirmed that she has been infected with the virus.

Princess Kako had traveled to the western city of Tottori to attend a sign language performance event by high school students on Sunday. But her attendance was canceled.

The agency says she will recuperate at a hotel in the city until Thursday.
