Kim's sister condemns UNSC meeting on N.Korea's missile test NHK

The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has denounced UN Security Council members that criticized Pyongyang's latest test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Kim Yo Jong issued a statement on Tuesday after Council members gathered for an emergency meeting the previous day.

The United States and some other member nations discussed how to respond to the North's launch of a Hwasong-17 missile on Friday, calling it a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Kim Yo Jong said in the statement that some Council members issued a joint statement under the US initiative.

She said the North Korean government strongly denounces what she called "reckless moves" and "a grave political provocation." She said these acts will drive the situation of the Korean Peninsula to a new phase of crisis.

Kim Yo Jong said "We will never tolerate anyone who slanders our exercise of the right to self-defense to protect the security of the state, but will take the toughest counteraction till the last."

She warned that if the US sticks to its anti-North Korea policy, Washington will face a more fatal security crisis.
