NHK has learned that Japan's antitrust watchdog has decided to impose fines on seven firms, including the advertising giant Dentsu Group, over suspected bid-rigging related to contracts for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Sources say that the Fair Trade Commission will order the seven companies to pay a total of about 3 billion yen, or about 20 million dollars, in penalties. The sources say the FTC is expected to rule that the seven firms and ADK Marketing Solutions violated the country's antitrust law. But ADK is said to have been excluded from the order to pay penalties. The sources say the FTC is expected to issue cease-and-desist orders to those companies. It has reportedly notified them of its intention.
