World leaders including US President-elect Donald Trump have gathered in the French capital for the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was damaged by fire five years ago.
                
The reopening ceremony was held on Saturday evening, following restoration from the devastating blaze in 2019.
                
Prominent figures from around the world attended the ceremony. Among them was the US president-elect, who was on his first overseas trip since the November election, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Britain&#039;s Prince William.
                
The ceremony was reconfigured due to bad weather, and the entire service was held inside the cathedral. One of the features was hymns sung by a choir.
                
French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a speech and looked back on the five years of restoration work that involved more than 2,000 people, including artisans in various fields.
                
Macron said, &quot;we have rediscovered what great nations can do -- achieve the impossible.&quot;
                
He called on people to never forget how much each person counts, and how the greatness of the cathedral is inseparable from the work of all.
                
Words of gratitude in French and other languages were projected onto the exterior wall of the cathedral, in show of appreciation for those involved in the restoration and donations from around the world.
