A: Hey Tomo, did you hear about something cool? B: Nah, what's up? A: So, our friend Onishi just came back from space! He was on this big spaceship called the International Space Station for almost half a year. B: Oh wow, really?! That sounds amazing! How did he come back? A: Well, he rode this Dragon spacecraft and it had to go through Earth's atmosphere to land. Then it opened its parachutes for a soft landing off the coast of California. Pretty neat, huh? B: Wow, that's pretty crazy! Did he get back okay? A: Yeah, he seems fine! They found the capsule and opened the hatch. Onishi walked out looking healthy and waved to everyone. B: That's great to hear! What was he doing up there anyway? A: He was working on experiments using a carbon dioxide removal system for future space missions. And get this, Tomo, he was even the ISS commander for a while! B: Whoa, Onishi is really something else! Good job him, buddy! A: Thanks! Yeah, now it's Yui Kimiya's turn to take over as ISS commander. She just arrived there on August 2nd. B: That's awesome! I can't wait to hear more about their adventures in space! ---------------- Japanese astronaut Onishi Takuya and three crewmates have returned to Earth after completing a roughly five-month mission aboard the International Space Station. They left the orbital outpost on a Dragon spacecraft that fired its engines to reenter Earth's atmosphere. The craft opened its parachutes for a slow descent, and splashed down off the coast of California on Saturday -- about 17 hours after undocking from the ISS. The capsule was later recovered by a vessel standing by. Its hatch was opened and Onishi emerged. He appeared healthy as he waved to the attending staff. The four astronauts had been on the ISS since March. Onishi was conducting experiments using a carbon dioxide removal system that was developed with future manned space missions in mind. Onishi also became the third Japanese astronaut to serve as ISS commander. Before his departure, he handed over duties to fellow Japanese Yui Kimiya, who had arrived at the space station on August 2. ---------------- Quiz 1: Who conducted experiments using a carbon dioxide removal system on the International Space Station?
